about every kind of pony party. Let's face it, kids are as hungry as a horse for their
party favors and here are some extra horsey ways of giving out the favors:
- Enchantments favor boxes. Kids love tiny treasures and here's one that's truly
heirloom quality. The Horse in Meadow tiny box measures, right, by Breyer and
Enchantments, measures 2 1/4 in. x 2 1/4 in. x 1 5/8 inches. It fits int he palm of
your hand and is the right size for bracelets and rings or tiny treasures like the
Tynies glass horse figurine, also right. Tuck a treasure like a Big Head horse,
pictured above.
- Dover Horse Books: Dover mini activity books make excellent favors. At around
$1.50 and eligible for free super saver shipping on orders over $25. Pair a book
form the Dover Little Activity Books series with a mini horse figurine (Big Head
horses, vinyl horses) in a small favor bag.
- Inflate the fun! Inflatable horses double as a decoration and kids love to horse
around and "ride" them. You'll find plenty of horse balloons and inflatable
horses online, rarely at the local party supply. Our favorites above the brown
horse inflatable and the black horse mylar balloon. Have parents help blow up
the inflatables. For the balloons, head to the local Dollar Tree store or grocery
store for a fill of helium.
- Award little party-goers with a trophy. Perfect for an equestrian theme party, you
can pair the comical big head, horses, pictured above right, and other small
horsey trinkets into a plastic trophy. Buy them online, or look in the sports
section of your local party supply. The finishing touch is a bit of cellophane and
curling ribbon.
- Feedbag favor idea: Sew a burlap sack (Hessian Cloth) into feedbag favor. Tie it
up with jute (string that looks like straw). Alternatively, for a cowboy party, you
can affix a sheriff's badge to the outside or draw a loot bag for the little bandits
with a money symbol. Sewing burlap is a challenge, and thankfully Making
Believe has done the work for you. Fill it with the funny Big Head Horse figurines
and Western Silly Bands, above. Or try the squish horses, horse bouncy balls or
right. Now that's how to bag it for a classic pony party.
- Make it a wrap for a barnyard bash. The truth is, kids don't care much for the favor
bag itself. The easiest favor bag is to gather up the horsey favors and wrap
them in a bandanna. It's cute, it's useful and you can buy bandannas in bulk
online, around a buck each, and use the extras to line feed buckets (see our
party snack ideas).
- Treasure this idea for a Wild West party. Back in the day, stagecoaches carried
treasure boxes and had to guard against bandits. Your little outlaws will love a
treasure box filled with party loot such as gold coins, bubble gum nuggets, and
cowboy figurines. Search pirate party supplies online to find plastic treasures
boxes.
- Give them the boot! Available in brown, pictured above, or pink for a pink cowgirl
party, the plastic boot cups will look terrific for the party filled with popcorn, or a
rootbeer float. Then you can wash them up and deliver to the kids as they leave
the party. Or wrap them in cellophane with little goodies, including a horse-
theme pencil for a festive display.
- Stick it to them with Dover sticker books: Dover has a wide range of booklets in
party themes. We've collected the most popular horse theme stickers and
activity books for you here to pick from.
- Favorable horsey crafts. Party activities, such as horse crafts, can serve as an
activity and a favor. Kids can color Shrink Dinks and make horse jewelry to take
home. There are also horse painting kits where kids get to design a ceramic
horse to take home.
- Consider Derby beads. No matter what your pony party, you can look for Mardis
Gras beads with jockeys, horse shoes, horses, and trophies. You will also find
cowboy boot and hat beads as well as other fun finds.
- Horse erasers, above, come four to a bento box. Divvy them up or give the
whole set.
